Various Romanian Magistrates Associations submit on Tuesday an official penal complaint against Justice minister Catalin Predoiu for abuse in service. The Romanian Magistrates Association President, Mona Pivniceru declared that they are currently considering submitting complaints in the name of other members of the executive.

Romania's Judges National Union is the only association of magistrates that did not subscribe to this measure, Pivniceru explained. On July 8, judges across the country ceased their activity repeatedly for three hours each day. Their protest was soon expanded to other workers in the courts which lead to a complete shut down of activity for the few hours or protest.

Judges protested against the salary cuts operated by the Justice ministry. In June, the government approved an emergency ordinance that rules the payment of bonuses for 2010-2012 in three installments.
