Romanian training vessel Mircea, owned by the Romanian Naval Academy Mircea cel Batran in Constanta, South East Romania came second within the Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge 2009. The Romanian vessel was Romania's ambassador to Boston for a short while. The vessel left on Monday the Boston port, as over 500,000 tourists admired it in all its beauty.

This is the third time when the Romanian vessel cuts the Atlantic in the last thirty years. The start of the Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge 2009 was in Vigo port, in Spain on April. The official closing of the competition will be market in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Romania's representative in the competition finished on July 7.

Mircea's commander Gabriel Duta declared for HotNews.ro that the main objectives of the ship is to maintain the staff safe and train future Romanian marines. There are 190 sailors on board, of which 110 are students of the Romanian Marine Academy.
