Former military general Mihai Chitac will be released for three months to undergo two surgical interventions, Bucharest' Appellate Court decided. Moreover, Victor Atanasie Stanculescu, condemned to 15 years of prison in a Timisoara Revolution file, will return to prison.

Found guilty of man slaughter during Romania's 1990's revolution in Timisoara, West Romania, Stanculescu was initially released on medical grounds. During his free time he was spotted by HotNews.ro entering in a casino in Bucharest where he spent more than two hours.

When prompted by journalists, he declared that his health condition has nothing to do with his ability to play in the casino.

UPDATE: Stanculescu was hospitalized at the Militay Hospital a day before his return in jail. Now, Stanculescu can leave the hospital only if his attending doctor considers that he is fit to leave the hospital, Military Hospital commander, Ioan Sirbu declared for the Romanian news agency NewsIn. He added that he can leave the hospital at request, also.

The law reads that a patient can leave the hospital at his own request or when the attending doctor considers that the patient no longer needs hospitalization, Sirbu said.
