Incumbent President Traian Basescu and his main counter candidate for the presidential elections, Social Democrat Mircea Geoana are due to meet on Thursday night in a public debate to convince the people to vote for them in the second round. The debate is organized at the Parliament's House starting at 7PM and is organized by the Romanian Institute for Public Policy, moderated by journalist Robert Turcescu. Organizers announced that the first to speak will be Mircea Geoana, followed by Basescu.

The themes will touch upon their vision on the mandate, foreign affairs, social security, stability, economy, finance and the business environment. The debate will last two and a half hours and can be extended to three hours, if needed.

A short 5 minute speech will follow from each candidate. A surprise moment was also scheduled, with questions from the press and non governmental organizations.
