The new tax on fast food products, proposed by the Health ministry will be enforced starting March 2010 and will be imposed to companies producing, importing or preparing fast food products, sweets, snacks, chips and drinks. The quantum of the contribution will be negotiated with companies targeted, Mediafax reads.

The tax will be paid by all judicial persons producing ,importing or preparing fast food products containing a high level of salt, fat, sugar and other additives. Health minister Attila Cseke announced on Tuesday that he is planning to introducing such a tax to support the national health programs.

Cseke said that he urged the ministry's health committee to issue a position to the proposal and establish the exact ways to implement the new tax.
