About 80,000 employees in Romania are paid on copyright contracts, Catalin Hossu, Cartel Alfa labor union President declared, referring to the pensions law project introducing the payment of social insurance for copyright contracts. Hossu considers that this is a necessary step but a great part of the measures can affect employees: the payment will decrease their salaries.
Hossu said that people will benefit from a pension, and that it is not all about the payments that need to be made. In his opinion, there are about 500,000 people not paying social contributions.
Mihai Seitan, Labor minister declared that the ministry is seriously discussing the possibility to introduce this requirement. He added that the most affected will be the press sector, as most journalists are paid based on such contracts. Seitan emphasized the need of such people to receive a pension when they retire.
