The Royal House does not plan to sell, for now, the Peles Castle and if it will, the Romanian state will have priority, Royal House lawyer, Adrian Vasiliu declared to RFI Romania. His declaration follows the announcement of the Culture ministry to start negotiations to extend the rent contract which expires next month.

Vasiliu underlined that the state will have priority if the royal family will consider to sell it. However, he urged the government to maintain the castle properly, as the palace suffered important degradations due to improper care.
