Former Romanian diplomat Silviu Ionescu drank alcohol before he drove the car, in the night of the accident which killed a man. The declaration comes from the first witness of the investigation, singer Jeong Ae Ree, The Straits Times informs.

According to her, on December 14, she went with the former diplomat in several places, including at a hotel, where the Romanian drank white wine. Ae Ree declared that Ionescu took her from her home, with a black Audi driven by his driver. After a few drinks, the former diplomat invited her to a party in another club. The driver of the diplomatic car removed the flags of the Embassy.

The next stop was Clarke Quay, where the two took part in a dance show where Ionescu drank two tequila's. At midnight, the two left to Legend Palace KTV, where the Romanian drank some more. She said that she was taken home at around 2am.

Ree declared that the next morning, she found two missed calls from Ionescu who called her at 3:50am. The two met at his place, where he tried to explain that he only drank juices a night before.
