President Traian Basescu: we need to understand that we cannot spend more than we produce / we cannot live in debt

Romanians need to understand once and for all that we cannot spend more than we produce, President Basescu declared on Friday. He said that authorities need to limit requirements to Romania's realities and understand that we cannot live on debt.

Basescu said that if the government will not be allowed to adopt the necessary adjustment measures of public spending, Romania needs to contract a new foreign loan by the end of the year.

He said that the military will collaborate with the Parliament and the government to find reasonable solutions for the social problems.
