Anti graft prosecutors forwarded to the Justice minister Catalin Predoiu, their request to the Senate to arrest Social Democratic senator Catalin Voicu. Voicu is accused of corruption acts, trading in influence and false documents under hand, a press release of the institution reads.

Other persons investigated in the file are Alexandru Mazare, Florin Costiniu, judge and Cristian Jipa judge at the Higher Justice Court. Prosecutors heard businessmen Costel Casuneanu and Marius Locic.

According to sources quoted by Mediafax, judge Florin Costiniu accepted bribe from PA & Co International in Bacau (Costel Casuneanu's company) in exchange of his intervention in another case involving Casuneanu. However, the decision of the judges was against the businessman.

According to sources, Voicu received from a business man 260,000 euro in exchange of his intervention to Higher Court judges for a lighter sentence. In another case, prosecutors claim that Voicu asked for bribe in exchange of his support to obtain a position within the government.

To support their accusations, prosecutors have 11 volumes containing over 2,663 files. PSD Senator Catalin Voicu said that he is not afraid of anything because he did not do anything. He said that prosecutors will not find anything against him.
