European Commission's temporary reports addressing justice and inner affairs in Romania and Bulgaria are due to be published on Tuesday, March 23 2010, an EC spokesperson announced today, Novinite.com informs.

The report regarding the situation of the justice department in both countries, published in July 2009, shows that Romania and Bulgaria have not taken sufficient measures to combat corruption and organised crime. As a consequence, the monitoring was recommended for "at least one additional year".

The two countries joined the European Union in January 2007, but because of issues in the justice sector and in the fight against corruption, the European Commission kept a special monitoring mechanism.
