Romanian Justice minister Catalin Predoiu told reporters at the public radio station on Monday, March 29, that Romania paid 10-12 million euros over 20 years following CEDO's decisions, Romanian news agency Agerpres informs.

"Statistically speaking, there are over 4,200 complaints against Romania. I can confirm that the cases leading to convictions are below 3%. The damages cost around 10-12 million euros over 20 years for an immense volume of files foe the judicial system, which goes much above its processing capacity", Predoiu said.

The Justice minister used the occasion to claim that often the law nests injustice and that the process of legislative elaboration and correlation needs be improved.

Predoiu underlined that the efforts that most magistrate make and the fact that there is concern for the system's reputation, even disappointment that the extremely high efforts they often make - doing their job in investigations carried out with great difficulty logistically speaking - are not always appreciated.
