Police arrested 178 persons in Europe and the United States, under the charge of faking cards, Reuters informs. Among the arrested are also Romanian citizens, part of a trans-national network with a business figure estimated around 20 million euros.

The investigation began in Spain, where the police found 5,000 cloned cards in six "labs". The investigation spread across two years and several countries. Most people arrested come from Romania, France, Italy, Germany, Ireland and the US.

The members of the criminal record are also accused of armed robberies, blackmail, human traffic and money laundry.
