Giulesti Maternity neonatology chief Adrian Toma is officially under investigation by the Bucharest Higher Court of Justice prosecutors, the Health ministry informed. The doctor will be investigated for negligence with severe consequences.

So far, the evidence shows that Adrian Toma, chief of the neonatology department of the Giulesti Maternity did not manage the resources correctly and did not take all measures to ensure that there are constantly at least two medical personnel in the intensive care unit for newborns, as rules stipulate, considering that the unit hosted too many babies than the maximum number allowed, the press release reads.

So far, prosecutors are investigating nurse Florentina Carstea for homicide and the technical service chief Vasile Dima, accused of negligence.
