President Traian Basescu declared on Tuesday, during a visit in counties affected by floods, that the situation of the country is not dramatic, but the situation of the deficit of the pensions fund is. A 3.6 billion euro deficit is not a joke, President Basescu said quoted by the Romanian news agency Mediafax. He underlined that "those bastards who bought votes tricking the retired that they can double pensions are now voicing their concerns".

Basescu told the press that the only solution is to get funds from abroad. He explained that there are many options but a decision will have to be taken soon.

Governmental officials declared that there are several options: a new agreement with the IMF or an extension of the current agreement.
