Business man Octavian Turcan, a Moldovan citizen considered to be close ties with Sorin Ovidiu Vantu and suspected he transferred money to Nicolae Popa was retained for 24 hours, Romanian news agency Mediafax informs. Octavian Turcan is the third person retained in the case by prosecutors, after Sorin Ovidiu Vantu and his driver, Alex Stoian.
Ovidiu Turcan was retained for 24 hours, accused of favoring the felon. Media mogul Sorin Ovidiu Vantu was retained on Thursday by anti graft prosecutors for 24 hours for favoring felon Nicolae Popa. According to sources, Vantu helped Nicolae Popa to escape from Romania even though the latter was sentenced to 15 years o prison. Also, prosecutors claim that Vantu sent money to Popa.
