Prosecutors finished the file in which media mogul and influent Romanian businessman Sorin Ovidiu Vantu is investigated, together with other presumed accomplices, for helping fugitive Nicolae Popa, sentenced to 15 years of prison escape the Romanian justice. Starting Monday, prosecutors will begin the presentation of accusations, judicial sources declared quoted by the Romanian news agency Mediafax.

Vantu was released on September 16 after a week of detention. He was arrested on September 9 together with his driver, Alexandru Stoian and Moldovan businessman Octavian Turcan. The Bucharest Court released three temporary arrest warrants for them for favoring a fugitive.

As he left the hearings, Vantu offered a piece of advice to those present, telling them not to take their phones with them when in a meeting. He added that his file is a political one, not a penal one.
