The Higher Court of Justice rejected on Wednesday the exceptions raised by former PM Adrian Nastase’s lawyers in the Quality Trophy file and the case is resumed starting November 30, Romanian news agency Agerpres informs.

The lawyers of those accused in the file, including those of former PM Nastase, invoked several exceptions which delayed the trial. Nastase declared that pressures are high in the cases he is being charged because all files are political. The anti graft prosecutors had an important mission which they manage to complete, Nastase said.

On January 20, 2009, anti graft prosecutors indicted Nastase for using his influence in 2004 to organize an event where he gathered sums of money for his electoral campaign. According to prosecutors, Nastase benefitted from 10 billion lei in campaign materials.
