EC President Jose Manuel Barroso declared on Monday at Cotroceni, after a meeting with President Basescu that, according to European law, the integration of national minorities is a national responsibility, not a European one.
He showed that it is very important that states with Rroma minority ensure their integration. Barroso said that EU members states are compelled to do whatever they can to integrate their minorities.
EC President said tha the the Rroma community is the biggest minority in Europe and the Commission is working on strategies and funds to support efforts of member states to integrate them.
