The Senate rejected on Wednesday, the President's request to re-examine the law on pensions, Romanian news agency Agerpres informs. The Senate's Speaker Mircea Geoana submitted to the vote the request of the President to decrease the retirement age for women from 65 to 63 years but it was rejected.

The request will move to the Chamber of Deputies, that has the final decision on the matter. According to Mediafax, the Senate adopted an amendment by Senators Toni Grebla - PSD and Cristian Radulescu PDL that ruled the retirement age of 63 for women and 65 for men. On October 19, the Senate decided to resume debates on the law on education in November even though the President urged the Parliament to start procedures immediately.
