Former business attache at the Romanian Embassy to Singapore, Silviu Ionescu was released on Thursday night from Bucharest Rahova Penitenciary as judges replaced the temporary arrest decision with the interdiction to leave the country, Romanian news agency Agerpres informs. Ionescu declared he is innocent as he exited the penitenciary and said he plans to attend a tv show to talk more of the matter.

Romanian diplomat Silviu Ionescu is accused of killing a 30 year old young man on December 15, 2009 as he was driving in Singapore. After the presumed accident, the Romania diplomat returned in Romania and declared that the car of the Embassy was stollen shortly before that night and he was not driving the car.

Earlier this year, Ionescu was recalled in Romania to support the investigation of the case he is involved in by Romanian authorities.

Singapore prosecutors claim that Ionescu was drinking and driving as they have the confession of a witness who drank with Ionescu shortly before he got in the car to leave.
