Bucharest Court debates on Friday a new term in the trial involving Romanian businessman and media mogul Sorin Ovidiu Vantu where he is indicted for favoring Romanian fugitive Nicolae Popa to escape a 15 year sentence. In the same file, businessman Octavian Turcan and Vantu's driver Alex Stoian are indicted.

UPDATEBucharest Court decided on Friday to postpone for Monday, at 10:00 AM, the new term of the trial in which businessman Sorin Ovidiu Vantu is indicted for helping Romanian fugitive Nicolae Popa to escape his 15 years sentence in Romania. The lawyers asked the court to postpone the trial on grounds that the did not have enough time to read the file. The said that when a man's liberty is at stake, they need to be well prepared.

Vantu arrived at the court escorted by 7 bodyguards and when he exited the court he told journalists he will not make any comments during the trial.

Agerpres, the Romanian news agency, informs that the file was sent to court on October 14 and on November 8 the court postpned debates because the accused did not find lawyers.

Prosecutors established that in October 2009 - 2010 Vantu sent Popa 120,000 euro.
