President Basescu invited opposition parties on Monday, at 5PM for consultations, official sources declared, quoted by Romanian news agency Agerpres. According to sources, the invitation was exception considering that importance of the themes the President wishes to discuss with all parliamentary parties.

Basescu declared at the beginning of the meeting that the dialogue was necessary because, he said, problems need to discussed with the Opposition as well. Basescu said that the main priorities of the country are: economic perspectives for 2011, legislative priorities and Schengen.

The Social Democrats decided to attend consultations. PSD leader Victor Ponta, PSD secretary general Liviu Dragnea and vice president Constantin Nita attended the consultations. Ponta announced previously that PSD will decide on Monday wether to attend or not.

Conservatives did not respond to the invitation, PC President Daniel Constantin declared. Liberal leader Crin Antonescu also refused the invitation.
