President Traian Basescu signed on Wednesday the decree to promulgate the law on pensions, the presidency informs. The law was also declared constitutional by the Constitutional Court earlier today.

The law on pensions was adopted on Tuesday, December 7 by the Chamber of Deputies that had the decisive vote and voted for the request to reexamine the request of the President to change the retirement age for women at 63 and not 65 as seen initially.

The draft was adopted by the government on February 10 but, after the law was approved in the Parliament and declared constitutional, President Basescu resent it to the Parliament on October 7th.

The law was contested last week at the Constitutional Court by the Opposition but judges of the Constitutional Court rejected their claims.
