Romania respected all conditions assumed to its European partners in what concerns border security, Traian Igas, Interior minister declared, hoping that our country will join Schengen in 2011, in due time.

Romania made whatever it had to, to secure borders, Igas said. Our European partners said Romania will be received in Schengen without any other requirements, the Romanian Interior minister said. He said he received assurances from the European Commissioner on Interior Affairs that Romania will not get other requirements other than to secure the border.

He hopes that the efforts Romania made will be considered. At his turn, former Interior minister Vasile Blaga declared the Interior ministry did everything it was asked.
