​A package exploded at the Swiss Embassy in Rome, when an employee attempted to open the package, ANSA reads, quoted by Reuters. He was severely injured at his hands. The information was confirmed by the Italian Foreign Affairs minister.

UPDATE 4 Police announced that they are checking all Embassies and Consulates in Rome.

UPDATE 3 A suspect package was discovered at the Ukrainian Embassy but after investigations police officers determined it posed no threat.

UPDATE 2 A new explosion took place at the Chilean Embassy in Rome, several hours after the first explosion. A person was slightly injured, AFP informs.

UPDATE 1 The Embassy was not evacuated after the explosion and the Ambassador is still in the building while experts investigate. According to the police no one claimed the attacks yet.

The victim was urgently transported to the hospital. The man was injured as the package exploded in his hands, the police siad. The incident comes two days after a suspect package was found in subway in Rome about which the police said it did not contain any explosives.
