Paris blocked on Friday, at Brussels, a technical report regarding Romania’s adhesion to Schengen. According to RFI, France requested the re-examination of the report on the implementation in Romania of the IT system SIS/SIRENE on which Schengen functions.

The report set up by European experts and presented during a work meeting at Brussels shows that Romania is ready from this point of view as well to enter Schengen. Other reports were already approved in Brussels in 2010. Now, all member states accepted the report, except France that blocked the process needed to adopt the document, European sources declared.

The subject will be also on the agenda of the next meeting on Schengen, on January 28 when the group will decide whether France raises any objections to the document. At the meeting two reports on Bulgaria were also discussed and the results of the evaluation of the terrestrial border between Bulgaria and Turkey. The report, made by European experts, was negative and France, Germany and Finland requested a second re-evaluation.
