Bechtel Interational, SNC Lavalin Nuclear and Atomtechnoprom are the companies that launched in the fight for the public tender on the construction of units 3 and 4 of the Cernavoda plant, Economy ministry reads. The tender was launched in mid September by Energonuclear, the mixed company that deals with the development of the project of the two reactors. The project is estimated at 3.2 billion euro excluding VAT.

According to the Economy ministry, the evaluation committee will analyze the documentation submitted, to identify the qualifications of the candidates for the procedures. The contract sees engineering works, procurement, constructions to finish the 3 and 4 reactors of the nuclear plant at Cernavoda.

Both units will be the same and will use CANDU 6 technology to maximize the net production capacity of the electric energy. The financing will be from several sources, like commercial banks or financial institutions, multilateral agencies or loans.
