PM Boc assured on Friday his Croatian counterpart, Jadranka Kosor of Romania’s support for Croatia to join the EU, Romanian news agency Agerpres informs. The statements follow a warning put forward by the Romanian Foreign Affairs minister Baconschi that Bucharest might denounce the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism unilaterally and condition Croatia’s adhesion to the EU, as a possible response in case Romania is not admitted in Schengen.

Romania supports Croatia’s adhesion to the EU and I am convinced that Croatia will comply with all requirements made by the EU, PM Boc. He underlined that it is Romania’s interest to see Croatia integrated. At her turn, Croatian PM Kosor thanked PM Boc for the support and friendship showed to the country. Kosor pleaded for Romania’s help in the negotiations until the end of the Hungarian EU Presidency.
