Journalist Adelin Petrisor, special correspondent at TVR, the public television, sent in Egypt and his camera operator were illegally retained by civilians in a poor neighborhood in Cairo, TVR’s website reads. According to information, the TVR was forced to give the images already taped.

Petrisor and his cameraman were asked for their ID and threatened with a knife while they were trying to put together a material in Cairo. The translator who was accompanying them was accused of treason. Finally, Petrisor and his cameraman managed to call the Embassy and resolve the situation but the materials they already taped were taken by the Egyptians.

Several journalists’ teams were aggressed on Wednesday downtown Cairo during the violent clashes between those who support President Mubarak and the anti-governmental protesters. CNN correspondents were hit with fists, while three Israeli journalists were arrested. Two Swedish journalists were detained by civilians while they were taping a material on a poor neighborhood. They were released shortly after by a military.
