Romania’s Competition Council decided on Monday to fine the biggest telecom operators on the market, Orange and Vodafone by 63.1 milion euro for abuse of dominant position after an investigation started in 2006 at the complaint of Netmaster Communications, Competition Council President Bogdan Chiritoiu announced.

NetMaster Communications accused the refuse of the two operators to offer access to their network. Orange and Vodafone were fined by 3% of their business numbers in 2010, which represents 34.8 million euro and 28.3 million euro.

Both Orange and Vodafone were surprised by the decision of the Competition Council and say that they will attack the decision in court.
