The governing Democratic Liberal party (PDL) should go with PM Emil Boc if it wanted him as the party should find its own way and find a solution to regain public trust in it and in the government, President Traian Basescu is said to have told PDL MPs during a meeting on Tuesday afternoon, according to sources who attended the talks. His statement comes as debates on replacing struggling MP Emil Boc have been intensifying. After the talks, Basescu declared that an independent MP might be a solution but with little chance of support from the governing coalition.

According to the sources, the president also said a debate was needed on the relaunch of the government process. He is said to have told MPs that he and the prime minister already discussed the issue and that time was needed for such a relaunch to take place.

MP Raluca Turcan was also quoted as saying as should it come to the choice of an independent MP, he should identify himself with the values of the PDL and the party's political projects.

As the talks ended, President Basescu declared that an independent MP might be a solution for regaining public trust in the government as it had to find another style tu run its activities. But he said he did not think an independent MP would be supported by the coalition government of PDL and Hungarian Democrats (UDMR).

And he said media speculation about the name of a future MP have nothing to do with reality as nothing would happen before elections within the UDMR party conclude.
