Cristi Popa was never considered or on the list for the Prime Minister seat and did not have a meeting with the President on Thursday night, political sources declared for HotNews.ro. Quoted sources said Popa’s career is grounded on monetary policy and he has no intention to enter the political scene. The governor declared several times that he does not plan to enter the government and talks with other central bank officials are excluded.

For now, there are talks with business representatives, sources said for HotNews.ro. All these talks follow rumours according to which either governor Mugur Isarescu or his deputy, Cristi Popa or Florin Georgescu are in the cards for the Prime Minister seat.
