National Anti-corruption Department (DNA) prosecutors and police raided on Thursday the offices of the Ploiesti Customs, TV news channels have announced. Customs Authority employees suspect of bribe taking were the target of the raids. In the early afternoon, prosecutors retained the head of the Ploiesti office.

Romanian news agency Mediafax reported that all firms involved in international trade with vegetables and fruit were checked by investigators and that all documents related to their activity would be retained from the Customs Authority.

The raids complete a long series of such interventions at various customs points across Romania, where dozens of border police and customs officers were retained under charges of corruption.
