Romanian MEP Adrian Severin declared on Monday night, for Romanian news agency Agerpres that following is meeting with Socialist group leader Martin Schultz he decided to resign from the group until investigations of the accusations brought by the Sunday Times British daily will clear him.

Severin said that he asked the EP President Jerzy Buzek to investigate this case and rejected all accusations released by the British daily. He said that he will fight for the truth to be revealed even though if it means to be fighting it alone. Romanian MEP said that he does not wish to affect the image of the Socialists group in the EP which is why he decided to withdraw from the group. Severin was one of the vice presidents in the group.

According to Romanian news agency Mediafax, Severin said that he fully understands the problem of the Socialists but said that he will not resign from the EP.
