The wealth of the Romanian MEP Adrian Severin is verified by the National Integrity Agency, Romanian news agency Mediafax reads adding that representatives of the institution refused to offer any details about their investigation. British Daily The Sunday Times released an article according to which three MEPs including Romanian MEP Adrian Severin were willing to sell their services in exchange of up to 100,000 euro to some journalists pretending to be lobbyists. The EP decided to launch an investigation following the information in the press while anti graft prosecutors in Romania said they will also look into it.

ANI general secretary Horia Georgescu declared that he cannot offer any information regarding an undergoing investigation and could not say if the investigation started before the scandal or following it. Adrian Severin declared on Monday that there is no connection between the investigation of the National Integrity Agency with the Sunday Times investigation.
