TEPCO started to spill tons of radioactive water into the Pacific. The operator announced its plans to spill 11.500 tons of radioactive water in the Pacific, Japanese news agency Jiji announced, quoted by AFP.

TEPCO spokesperson said that the water’s radiation level is low and said that the only solution is to spill the water into the ocean, as a prevention method. The Fukushima nuclear plant was severely damaged by the 9.0 Richter scale earthquake and the tsunami that followed.

Authorities are taking all necessary measures to prevent a nuclear disaster.
