US compliments Romania for hosting, in its Emergency Transit Center at Timisoara, West Romania, 30 citizens from Eritrea who came from a refugee camp from Tunis, at the border with Libya. This is the first refugee group among those expected to arrive in Romania from the region.

We appreciate the generosity of the Romanian government and the UNHCR and their role in coordinating efforts to ensure the refugees have a safe and comfortable place to stay until they are moved in a third country, a press release of the US Embassy to Bucharest reads.

The US is the main country in which refugees settle. So far, 420 of the 637 refugees were temporary hosted at Timisoara, West Romania.
