The IMF has “definitely”no doubt to the quality of data on its 2010 budgetary deficit, Romania’s representative to the IMF, Mihai Tanasescu declared in an interview for RFI radio. The statement follows the news that Eurostat, the European Statistics Institute expressed its doubts regarding last year’s deficit. HotNews.ro wrote yesterday that accusations relate to possible errors regarding data on state owned companies like CFR Marfa and Termoelectrica.

Tanasescu said that data was verified by the IMF and they are correct. He explained that at the level of the Union, authorities seek to redefine the notion of consolidated budget deficit.
