Romania’s Foreign Affairs minister Teodor Baconschi believes that Romania’s involvement in the American anti-missile shield increased trust between Washington and Bucharest which will consequently lead to more American investments in Romania. We proved that we are a credible, reliable partner, we made our contribution to operations in different theaters where NATO, lead by the USA was involved and this consolidated the prestige and credibility of our country, Baconschi said.

He said that the anti missile shield in Romania will strengthen Romania’s strategic profile in the region. He said that he did not receive any reaction from his Russian counterpart. We express our hope that Russia will have a constructive contribution to the system, Baconschi said. He said the anti missile shield’s role is purely defensive, manifesting his hope that political dialogue between Washington and Moscow will be fruitful.
