The pharmaceutical market reached the value of 6 billion Romanian RON in the last year, a 14.8% increase as compared to the similar period, in 2005-2006 shows a report of the Cegedim Romania research company.

However, the market growth slowed down as compared to 2005-2006 when the market grew by 20.1%.

For this year, Cegedim forecasts that the market will continue to grow constantly until the end of the year.

For 2008, the market growth rate is expected to fall to 10% and some specialists expect a deeper decrease.

When it comes to sales, the British GlaxoSmithKline is first with 469.6 billion Romanian RON and a market share of 7.8%, followed by Roche- Switzerland with a market share of 6.8%. Third in line is the French company Sanofi-Aventis with a 6.6% share of the market.
