Spanish state secretary for Security Antonio Camacho admitted a few weeks ago that the Spanish government had initiated negotiations with Italian authorities to avoid a mass exodus of expelled Rroma people from Italy to Spain, Spanish daily ABC reports, quoted by Romanian monitoring agency Rador.

The source says that negotiations started even before the so-called Gypsy crisis reached the media following the killing of an Italian woman by a Rroma man of Romanian citizenship in late October.

Camacho admitted that his government was worried that a possible wave of Rroma immigrants hit Spain. Moreover, he assured that Italy’s moves to expel migrants suspected of illegal conduct would not translate into a negative effect for Spain.
