A Russian oil transporter collapsed during a storm near the Kerch Strait connecting the Black and the Azov Seas on Sunday morning, spilling 2,000 tones of crude in the Black Sea, Romanian news agency NewsIn informs. According to a Russian official, quoted by Itar-Tass, none of the 13 members of the crew got hurt.

But one Russian official was quoted as saying that the event posed a "serious environmental disaster".

The deputy director of Russian agency Rosprirodnadzor said that the environmental problem would take years to be dealt with as the oil is expected to settle at the bottom of the sea causing serious damage.
