The mayor of Western Romania city of Arad, Gheorghe Falca, was officially indicted by anti-corruption prosecutors on Thursday underc charges of taking bribes and abuse in office against public interest. An Arad city hall official and two businessmen are also charged in the case.

According to a press release issued by anti-graft prosecutors, in March 2005 Falca received from the the two businessmen a property valuing 115,550 euro more than an apartment offered in exchange.

At his turn, the mayor favored the two businessmen in getting an undervalued land sold by the City Hall in the center of the town.
