Representatives of several large labor unions in Romania threatened on Thursday to launch wide scale protests in case their demands referring to the 2008 budget law draft aren't heard. Union leaders claim that the project, in its current shape, brings advantages only to employers, not employees.

The main source of discontent for unions is the decrease of social contributions, which will lead, in their opinion, to lower resources for pensions and unemployment funds.

At the same time, the lower level of contributions will also reduce payments for recovery treatments in case of labor accidents.
