The leadership of Romania's governing Liberal Party is to urge Romanian PM Calin Popescu Tariceanu on Monday to replace some of his ministers even though Tariceanu had previously declared that he did not wish to make government changes.

According to Liberal sources, some members of the party leadership also considered on Monday morning to ask for a party-level vote of confidence in each minister. The moves come as the Liberal-dominated government has come out tainted from corruption scandals for the past several weeks.

A Liberal leadership meeting started at 10 am on Monday.

In case Liberal leaders decide it is time to reform the government, they will have to decide the moment when the changes are best: before or after the European elections due later this autumn.
