Prime Minster Calin Popescu Tariceanu sent president Traian Basescu the official nomination for the Agriculture Minister seat, vacated after the resignation of Decebal Traian Remes. A few hours later, president Basescu signed the nomination decree for Dacian Ciolos, sub-secretary in the Agriculture Ministry.

Liberal leader Dan Radu Rusanu refused the nomination.

Tariceanu’s decision comes as a result of the influence trafficking charges brought against the resigned Agriculture minister Remes.

The European Commission announced that it is “not interested in the name of the minister, but in the well-functioning of the ministry”.
