The leader of Romania's pro-presidency Democratic Party (PD) Emil Boc urged PM Tariceanu on Thursday to resign, accusing his government of corruption and irresponsibility considering EU’s Wednesday warning to activate the safeguarding clause on Agriculture.

“The government needs to leave” Boc, whose party was a member of a coalition with the governing Liberals until this spring, said in a press conference.

He added that even if Agriculture minister Decebal Traian Remes resigned at the peak of a corruption case on Thursday morning, the issue of incompetence and corruption was not resolved for the current government.
