Five public servants from the General Department of Social Assistance and Child Protection in Dambovita county, southern Romania are investigated for fraud amounting to 10,000 euro related to a PHARE project destined for very poor families.

According to Anti-graft prosecutors, the five persons are accused of frauding European funds.

Anti-graft prosecutors say that the public servants presented illegal and unclear documentation when requested.

The documents were part of final technical and financial reports annexed at the final payment requests to justify the payments made during the implementation of the project.

All public servants are well off, owning several apartments or terrains in the county.
