Joi, 27 septembrie 2007, 0:00

CNSAS - the body in charge with investigating Ceausescu’s political police (Securitate) files, announced that its verifications led to the conclusion that Daniel Daianu was not involved in political police activities, despite the fact that he worked in a Foreign Intelligence Service department before Ceausescu’s fall in 1989.
Daniel Daianu is leading the list of candidates Liberals suggested for the European Parliament.

According to CNSAS officials, Daianu’s case was discussed only after he was listed as candidate, despite the fact that he is a former Finance Minister.

Liberals’ list for the EP also include NGO president Renate Weber, EP members Adina Valean and Cristian Busoi, as well as Ramona Manescu, Magor Csibi, Stejarel Olaru, Iulia Huiu, Horia Toma and Cristian Anghel. The last place on the list is taken by the House of Deputies’ speaker, Bogdan Olteanu.
